As you may or may not know, far away from Earth lies the Andromeda galaxy, an inhabited galaxy with numerous inhabited planets. The people who live here are, for the most part, humans, and we do our best to explore the stars and make it for ourselves in this universe of ours.
One particular political organization in the galaxy is the Zirconian Republic. This major military power has been the forefront for the development of new military technologies for hundreds of years.
In Andromeda, war is an art waged in many forms, the most important of which being the clash of massive spaceships that are necessary to launch any form of large scale planetary invasion or hold any key trade routes. With several federations spanning multiple planets, trade is always a key aspect of maintaining any form of clout in the Andromeda galaxy, and a primary reason for modern day conflict. As a result, control of interstellar space is incredibly important.
That's where I come in. I'm a pilot for the Zirconian fleet, but not just a pilot of any old fighter. I pilot an Altone-Class Viking, the most advanced fighter, and arguably the most advanced invention, controlled by the Zirconian Republic.
What makes the Viking so special? Quite simply, the Viking is capable of four-dimensional travel. It's a recent development, and still rather experimental, but in the past year we've seen Vikings deployed for military operations. Their abilities provide them superior speed and stealth tactics and make them incredibly difficult to deal with using conventional weapons. Despite heavy energy and resource costs, the Viking is an incredibly effective delivery system.
Naturally, piloting a ship in the fourth-dimension is incredibly difficult to do. It is so difficult, in fact, that only special people (seers) are capable of piloting them. Seers have the gift of being able to see four-dimensional space. I am one of those people.
The gift can be inhibiting at times, but on the battlefield, my Viking and I are worth more than hundreds of men on the crew of a Dynamo-Class Battleship. As long as the Zirconian Republic monopolizes this technology, the rest of the galaxy will have to settle for Zirconia's military superiority for a long time.
